Why do people believe in god and other supernatural things when there is no proof yet hate on science when there is proof i swear most of the human population is illogical.

    • Science gives me more hope than religion ever could
      .
With science humans are in control of the future
      .
With God it’s all up to the decision of a single force

  • I understand that people want hope and stuff but its so much easier to accept the problem as a species and tackle it yourself rather than putting it in the hands of something imaginary.

  • Fear makes people think with the lower (more primal) area of the brain. People struggle to reason when they are scared. Religions were invented to answer the scary questions like “is the anything after death?” so people readily accepted them. Parents, priests, etc. teach children to fear their god(s) so these children struggle to question.

  • Yes I’m well aware of the logic the question was more rhetorical just wanted to put it out there that it needs to change

    • That’s a start. But still open your mind and listen to what others say if you want to really explore your own question. Understand that science doesn’t give the same hope, it promises no afterlife. You’re certainly right that science gives more personal control (assuming the religion has an all-powerful and involved god) but does freedom always equate to a feeling of security? When in a unfamiliar situation would you rather have a guide that knew what he/she was doing or brave the situation on your own? Does everyone feel as you do?

      • I’d rather do it myself I’ve had a taste of religion i was born baptist but I don’t like religion in fact i wrote a paper explaining why i think religion is holding humanity back

        • I agree that religion holds humanity back. Though, I’m not sure on how to change minds quicker than one at a time. I have to keep digging deeper into why people are the way they are. It’s hard to get people to listen. As so eloquently said by another, “the difficulty lies not so much in developing new ideas as in escaping from old ones.”
