The only reason I can handle us being poor right now, is because I can look at my toddler’s savings account and know that he’ll have a better start of his adult life than we do. I know the money in that account would help us tremendously right now, but I refuse to touch even one cent, even though he doesn’t even know he has it. We can manage without it, even though it’s difficult. Just looking at his account balance makes me feel better.
