I’m a STAR-DOG
CHAM-PI-AM!
Back in the day, I knew that song roughly in my head. I had seen the video once or twice and I liked the tune, so it was one of those tabs I took what theory I learned in music grade 9 music class with the saxophone, reading the staph and the beats, the notes, quarter nots, half notes full notes, because all that stuck and still does stick, I took that aspect, read that and used tab, to learn parts of that song without the music. The intro the chorus, quite a bit of it actually. I remember sitting there playing the part right before the guitar solo “and the chil-dren…. They used to sing of love” and I might have learned part of the solo too.
I also did that with Stome The Crow by Down which I had only heard maybe once. It was elusive and I really friggin rocked it too. From sight, and knowing the basic, not completely blind, tab and notes alone. Nailed it.
