Reading an article on GUITAR. com about the BOSS SD-1 Super Overdrive called

“I COULD HAVE DONE 90 PER CENT OF MY CAREER WITH AN SD-1”: WHY THE BOSS OVERDRIVE HAS BEEN THE PRO GUITARIST’S SECRET INGREDIENT FOR 40 YEARS”

I recently, within the last year or so bought one, it’s a popular pedal heard on many records. I got the 40th anniversary one in the reverse colors, black with yellow writing and gold control knobs. I gotta say too, it’s awesome. It’s not what I expected. With an effect name like “Overdrive” you would think it’s gonna be a monster spitting fire. It does, it can, but it WAY more subtle than I expected. Its more of a tone color. Surprising, but I love it. It’s very useful to the tone of my Orange Micro Dark. A simple anp without much in the way of tonal adjustment. It brightens things up and adds some dimension to the tone. It’s a great Overdrive pedal and relatively cheap too for such a high quality classic pedal.

When I bought the Black 40th anniversary model, one guy was like “are you sure you want the black one?” They had the yellow one, I was like yeah. I like that. It’s rare. The other guy at the cash register is implying “I like to think it’ll sound slightly better too…” I didn’t want to get into it with him, but no… no it doesn’t. No need to sell it, I won’t return it, I want that pedal. It’s the same pedal in a black housing. I like BOSS. I need more BOSS pedals. I know I eventually want a Loop Station.
