That’s a fear you need to overcome and be rewarded.
There is not a single job or even interview I have ever done that I wasn’t nervous or scared for.
Most jobs I’m flying from the seat of my pants winging it for the first 3 months. I always look at it like there’s nothing thing to lose. Who cares. See what happens. I’ve walked into places the first day thinking “holy s***, should I turn around and walk out? F*** it, let’s see what happens….”
I’m kind of stagnant where I am now, there’s no real challenges to it and that’s alright because I’m compensated with decent pay and sense that I am good at what I do and it is appreciated, irreplaceable but up until this point it’s been serious challenge, after challenge, after challenge where I had to force myself to do something crazy, something almost risking my life, like for example I never learned how to drive a standard vehicle. One day they throw me into an old standard truck literally falling apart, people would literally pull up to me and go “you lost a pie e back there…” I’d be like “yeah probably… I don’t care, thanks….” to go drive around this city at a busy time of the day. They say “You don’t know how to drive a standard? Here I’ll show you… You do this, this, this, don’t let this happen, and away you go?” Get over n the truck, stalled it every single time I had to stop, didn’t realize you need to hold the clutch down, I didn’t understand the balance between gas/brake/clutch, but it didn’t take long and I was a pro and they threw me in a bigger standard truck that was very borderline illegal for me to drive. It fooled friends of mine who knew just looking at it “you can’t drive this truck” I’m not licenced. I drove that thing for a long time. A year or more. Many hours. Every job I have been at has had these things like that I had to overcome, but ended up being rewarding in some of more than one way. I stayed at these places for a year, 4 years, I have 20 years history at that one place with the truck.
