Have you ever had family envy? That numb feeling you get when you see a family walking together, happy together. I couldn’t help but overhear a phone call made on speaker, a woman talking to her father ‘I love you’ was said so easily between the two of them. It struck me and made me uncomfortable to even hear it. I didn’t get it. How effortless, how strange.
Other people can walk into their family home after a long time away and be welcomed as if nothing has changed. They physically touch each other with pats and light taps or stand close to each other to engage, sometimes even leaning on one another. The family jokes around with each other and the atmosphere isn’t too tense. I can’t help but feel uncomfortable. What is this? What is going on in here?
Even out in a public place, a small child being cared for, spoiled, and carefully watched over. Little prick. Lol oh well, I know it’s my own upbringing and not any of the strangers fault. This feeling never lasts too long, but it still stings from time to time.
