Smollett pleaded no contest in 2007 in Los Angeles to charges of DUI, driving without a license and providing false information to police. Smollett identified himself as his younger brother, actor and celebrity chef Jake Smollett, after being pulled over and wrote his brother’s name on the promise to appear in court. He was sentenced to two years probation and a choice of a fine or jail in the 2007 case.
