I just feel like the LGBT community becomes romanctically uneducated, due to an oppresive culture created by societal norms. How can you tell if someone likes you comfortably, when the majority views your s******** as a political conversation, a sin, or a plain joke. People say it’s so hard to deal with relationships, but at least they have so many doors opened. Most people who are LGBT haven’t even came out of the closet. It’s like something you’ve been “hiding” or not caring about for so long, due to how much everyone else has a say in it. And the moment you come out… it’s like the only defining topic about you (whether you choose for it to be so or not). Idk.
Maybe that’s why people quickly tell their s******** in those ice breakers: so they don’t have to deal with that underlying tension and snippets of homophobia that make you realize if you do come out or do that “big reveal”, they’ll think you betrayed them.
I remember seeing this group of people watching a movie where a married couple cheats on their partners to be together, and how uneasy I felt due to how many people sympathized with them. Later that week they were playing a game called gay chicken, where members had to do s***** innuedo s*** until someone felt too grossed out. Its so pointless to the point I feel like i’m preparing for nothing. Nothing matters when you live in a group that has to deal with so many confusing emotions, that make you feel alone even in your community. I don’t think anyone really cares though because it’s such a niche problem… a couple of hours from now i feel like i won’t even have such passion for the topic either.
