I support nonbinary people but there’s something that’s been bothering me about them lately, and I can’t shake it.
Okay so, when a guy (he/him) exclusively likes girls (she/her), he’s considered straight, right? And if he exclusively likes other guys, he’s gay. Being straight means you like the opposite gender, and being gay means you like the same gender.
But nonbinary people don’t have a specific gender. They use they/them pronouns.
So how can they be gay? Or ANY s******** besides pansexual or asexual? How can you be attracted to the opposite gender if you don’t have a gender?
Another thing that bugs me about this is people (mostly from tumblr) who want to completely get rid of genders. But these people are also the ones who think straight people are evil. So if genders weren’t a thing, they’d have no one to mindlessly yell at. And they wouldn’t be able to remind everyone that they’re gay 24/7. It just seems a bit silly to me.
I’d really appreciate it if people could reply to this; especially if you use tumblr and know more about this particular subject.
And please don’t come at me saying I’m ‘whatever-phobic’, because I’m actually not and if you think I am, you need a dictionary. I’m just genuinely interested in learning more about something that confuses me.
