I’m a romance author, and I write under a pseudonym to avoid people I know reading my works. Earlier, I opened up to my boyfriend about what I write for the first time, and his immediate response was that I would make “real money” and people would actually enjoy my books if I wrote lesbian s***.
I explained that I refuse to write s*** – lesbian or otherwise – to which he shrugged and said that’s why I struggle to get readers, which, for the record, I do not; I simply don’t brag about it.
