I tried to kill myself on multiple occasions.
I’m 11.
My life is miserable. I’ve always tried to get my parents to finally say, “I’m proud of you. ” Just once. Just to hear those 4 words slip from their very lips. Once my little brother(9) was born, he simply got all the attention. When I was a toddler, I could understand why. He was younger, as fragile as glass. It didn’t really matter to me much anyway. Yet, when I got 2 awards, one for all A’s and good samaritan all I got was a “Cool.” But when he brings up his award for most improved in math, suddenly all the attention was towards him. “I’ll buy you anything you want!” When he got a 74 in math, “Good job! I’m so proud of you!” Versus me, getting an 89 for the first time ever. “You’re slipping up! Do I need to punish you?” When he just said “Hi.” to our mom, which I have been saying for forever, he gets all the praise. “John(fake name) said hi to me!” When I hug our mom as he says hi, he gets smothered in love. When he hangs out with his friends instead of us, he literally got some virtual game money. When I do that, I get yelled at. “It’s because he’s younger.” Just because he’s younger doesn’t mean that they can literally drag me when I do something wrong but when he does something way worse, it’s brushed off. He got praised for eating. Eating. When he doesn’t have any type of ED. (Or if he did, which I hope not, our parents have no clue.) My sister(21) texted him in the middle of the night. “Good job! Stephanie(Her girlfriend, 20, fake name) and I are very proud of you!” With a bunch of other gushy things that I would kill to be told. In the end, he was confused just like me. He didn’t do anything astonishing. He got praised for knowing 3rd grade math, he’s in 4th. When I complain, “Don’t say that! That can really take a toll on him!” I’m in 5th and know how to find the square unit and squared since 3rd.
