To: I have a co worker who we will call Bill. Bill is a narcissistic pathological liar that views women as objects.
Me: Words. All Bill is doing is stirring you up, because he knows he can and you are a sucker to him, for how you react to what he says to you and that makes it fun for him and a pain for you.
Play Bill at his own game. Laugh with him, agree with him and don’t let on your own feelings, because you are who you are and you won’t be anyone else.
Once you don’t let him get to you, he will lose interest in baiting you and he will probably leave you alone, to go after another sucker, who reacts negatively, to whatever he says, his jokes and everything else.
In life, we get all sorts. Good, bad, indifferent and especially in the workplace, or at school.
You have to find the tools you use to feed his ego, while not letting anything said, impact on you at all.
Let me put that another way.
Doctors, nurses and people in care, see the most terrible things that can be done to a human’s body and it is still alive and they must care for it and make it better.
They are taught, or learn, how to turn off their feelings, so that they can do whatever is necessary to not be “involved” on a personal level and never have to take the memories of what they see and hear, outside their work and into their domestic and personal lives and you must do the same with Bill, so that he has no impact on you whatsoever and then he will leave you alone.
Treat Bill as a learning curve to discover ways to better yourself at his inconvenience, without doing anything, or saying anything, to cause friction between either of you.
What he says he does with women is probably b*******, because, these days, there are more Laws to protect women than there are for men and with the possibility of a large cash payout, after any Legal action, he is unlikely to aggravate women to the point that he becomes the target of retaliation, from women, who he says, come into contact with him.
You never know, he might be a very lonely person, who uses his aggravating behaviour as his means to manage his life and stir people up, so that he gets his fulfillment that way.
