I feel as if many may relate to my post. I am an half Bangladeshi and half Indian girl whose parents have ingrained throughout their life that I must have an arranged marriage. The predicament is that no one had ever set the grounds of what the rule was in order to find a suitable arranged marriage. So I just recently found out my parents would prefer to bring a guy from India despite me being raised in the west. Secondly, my parents are becoming extremely irate if I am rejecting any man due to incompatible or finding it difficult to have a chat. It certainly doesn’t help that I previously had a white boyfriend so my parents especially my mother finds it justifiable to remind me how I have made ‘bad choices’. Furthermore, as we broke up nearly 2 years ago, I am obstructed from finding a man for myself because I am clearly incapable of understanding from my mother’s perspective the stricter an ideal husband should have. Her views have augmented to the point where she taunts and reminds me that white men have used me for s** and have had no interest in marrying me. I have literally given up and agreed to marry any man that is flung towards me so I am finding it hard to comprehend the necessity for her to berate me in such a manner. Is anyone facing this situation? I am asking for help because this is detrimentally affecting my mental health and the visions of my mother as a perfect woman who could do no wrong is being obliterated in my mind
