On my last birthday, I depended on my friend X (my roommate) to organize some kind of gathering, a night out, anything, so we can celebrate me becoming 20.
I ended up going out for a drink with two guys I don’t know, one I barely know, and my stupid roommate who failed at organizing anything. I paid for my drinks.
My best friend’s birthday (friend Y) is in two weeks, and I’m on a Facebook thread with 10 of our closest friends all planning a surprise for him. Who’s leading the thread? My roommate, X, the same guy who keeps calling himself my best friend.
You know what s****? That I keep doing favors for these friends and keep helping them out with everything. They couldn’t care less that I was turning 20, but now they’re all worked up trying to pick out the perfect $600 smartphone to buy for Y.
This makes me feel like a loser 🙁

Maybe X is just living the moment with all your other friends? Maybe he doesn’t really feel better about Y. If he’s your best friend, you should be able to talk to him about it without it getting awkward.

X gets really dramatic for no reason and would make a big deal out of it. I know how I’m going to confront him about it. This post isn’t about that, it’s just about the feeling.
Good thing I like Y so much or else it would have really pissed me off.
