I used to lie about my health in order to avoid having to own up to my responsibilities, because of my pathological familial situation.

With a family constantly on the verge of killing one another, I was never able to do well academically, for example. Then, the trauma from having to go to a religious school without fulfilling my responsibilities caused me to drastically hyperbolise my health, so that I could rather be hospitalised than attend class.

I should have just stuck it out and did what I had to do, regardless of the humiliation associated with it.
