I work for a hotel. If guests contract covid and can provide proof, we won’t waive their cancelation penalties. Many threaten to leave their reservation active and show up anyway to infect people. We do absolutely nothing to stop them. I wish even a quarter of the people who threatened to blast their case on social media would because corporate does not care. As far as they’re concerned if we “don’t know about it” (even if we do) no one else has to know. I can’t imagine how many people are contracting this disease because they’re traveling right now. And I say this with the full acknowledgement that if travel shuts down again, I’ll be furloughed if nor fired again. I was the first time. I don’t care anymore. It’s not worth the loss of life to be quiet about this. Don’t travel. For the love of God do not trust companies will have your best interest. It’s not safe. And what’s worse, despite all these hotels claiming they have increased security protocols? They don’t. So many housekeepers were let go during the first wave they can’t rehire people and so hotels across the US and brands don’t have the number of people to do basic cleaning let alone proper COVID cleaning. I implore you. Don’t travel
