I have no problem with gay people living their life. I wish them well and hope for their unimpeded happiness. I hope they never have to be afraid of who they are or worry about their place in this world. I whole-heartedly support being true to yourself.

But I rarely read books or watch movies with gay protagonists, with life from their point of view. I can’t relate. I’m a cis heterosexual, and I cannot relate. So I’m sorry, LGBTQ folks. I really don’t hate you. I just can’t relate when it’s your voice. I wish it wasn’t so and I tried. Thank the gods there are better people than me out there, you deserve better.
