Sometimes I say “bonjour” with just a hint of anglo accent so my interlocutor will switch to English.
Last Sunday afternoon I missed a phone call from my husband Roger. He’s visiting the local prison. I totally forgotten what time it was. It was my birthday and I had other things on my mind. The plumber was here laying some BBC pipe. He went into overtime. The job that he done was fantastic. I’ll keep his number handy if I need more service work that needs to be done.
