I’ve been financially supporting my family for 2 years now. Working 2 jobs and not being able to save up or travel or buy things I could easily afford if I didn’t have to shoulder almost all of the bills makes me feel upset at times. I pay for the house rent and utilities and my dad pays for the car. He claims the car is his, since he’s paying for it. Meanwhile I have nothing that I can claim that’s mine. Now I got my tax refund and my mom wants to take it. Initially, I agreed. She told me I wouldn’t have gotten any tax return if I didn’t claim her and my little brother as my dependent. Now that I thought of it, I would’ve probably saved more money than the tax return I’m getting if I didn’t have to pay for everything a parent has to pay for. I don’t even have kids yet I feel like a single mother.
