Must have been age, the lock rusted away, when we moved the huge heavy doors, they slid open almost effortless, guess it was the counterweights built-in allowed for that. The cemetery abandoned for ages, surprised that the big mausoleum neglected like that. We moved along the corridors, I was surprised how little dust there was inside, light coating on the floor, a few minor cobwebs here and there. Just for the heck of it we banged on one of one of the wall plate slabs, the marble stone slab fell out and down, crashed to the floor. Inside a coffin. All of us lifted that out, it nearly crumbled doing so. No trouble opening the lid, inside a clothed skeleton with a dry-rotted dress, a woman. We would have put it back but it fell apart nearly when we placed it on the floor. We left it there. We didn’t do anymore, just looked around then back out those big doors. None of us took anything, I know later on vandals came along and busted up the place. There was a fire there too later, the whole place caught up in the middle of a forest fire. It’s been many years, don’t know whatever happened to that old cemetery, or the grounds there now.
