Dear lets call you Beth:
We have been close friends for quite some time, you are the sister i never had, we were once good for each other, and i miss you before the drinking years. I live with depression and have for most of my life. As i work on getting me well, i see you slipping and i don’t know how to help you anymore. I have tried to be you’re rock for almost 7 years now. I’m becoming tired of trying without seeing any progress. I may not feel safe to discuss my depression that i try to deal with but the lifestyle you live would burn anyone out. I guess what I’m getting to is that i can’t keep taking on you’re problems and deal with my problems too. When we talk either on the phone or in person, i always walk away feeling hopelessly low and anxious. I wish that you could and would get a hold of you’re drinking problem as well as not have to feel the need to drink. I’m no doctor as you know however i think that you are bi polar and that you need more help than what i have to offer. Due to my depression, i haven’t made other friends. My world is a lonely place to where i have forgotten what it feels like to have a fun girls night out. One thing i wish you could understand, is that once you stop working on you’re problems then you become part of the problem. Finally, i will never stop loving you, i wish that i knew how to assure you so, where that is concerned.
