Flowers last longer if you cut the stems on a slight angle and put sugar in the water. They also sell packets of crystals to add to the water to extend the life. You do not need a vase for every flower purchase. Some flowers can be delivered in a box or wrapped in paper. Then you just arrange them in your own vase.
