i’ve been cheating at golf in various ways for decades.

o Have said I made 5 when I made 6
o Dropped balls in hazards / woods said it was found
o Played ball that wasn’t my own in similar areas
o marked ball closer to hole by a couple inches.
o Improved lie
o Accidentally brushed sand on way back in a trap
o Have had ball move and haven’t called penalty on myself
o Have whiffed and counted / tried not to count it.

i’ve thought for years that i was getting away with it but may have been recently exposed and am now wondering if it was just ignored in the past for various reasons. i’m also now wondering if why i’m not included in certain group games where i play.

i want to very badly stop doing this given my age and that i have 3 little kids to be a role model for but i feel like my ego as a good golfer is getting in the way.

i can rationalize this cheating a million different ways including having to compete with “sandbaggers” but at the end of the day, it’s still cheating.
