Nobody is really given anything. It takes some work to get to where you are going, you need to apply, step up to the interview and convince them to give you a job. It takes work, effort to pull that off then it’s just t really over. You need to prove yourself to be a wise choice on their part. Practically. And slowly you build up a reputation, and before you know it, you have proven yourself to be worthy of the position and the confidence your boss and manager have been in you. You don’t even really need to like what you’re doing, you just need to be good enough at it and comfortable enough. Before you know it, you’re holding down a job. I can’t think of a single job that was handed to me. I have gotten many, I would say I have held down 3 for at least a year. I held one for 4.5 years, I have come and gone 3, 4 times from one over 2 decades.

Some people might be given it sometimes, the majority need to work for it. To get it and maintain it.
