I don’t own a vase because the only time I’ve been bought flowers is when it’s too little too late. The first time I gave them to my neighbour because I just couldn’t look at them.
This, men is why grand gestures don’t work. A single rose anytime in the last decade would’ve melted my heart. A bunch of daffs from the supermarket would’ve made me really happy. This massive bouquet stuck in a measuring jug just shouts ‘I fucked up’ so I’m finally sending the flowers you’ve wanted.
I don’t want afterthought, I want spontaneous ‘she’d love those’ or ‘oh I’ll grab some flowers from the checkout end to make her smile’
That’s the difference between being in someone’s thoughts and thinking massive flowers after 10 years will do anything other than remind me you’ve never bothered before.
