Friendship is fundamental and paramount in developing a romantic relationship. If your partner does not respect or care about who you are, only you them, the relationship is doomed to be one-sided henceforth. It doesn’t matter how kind or sweet the other person may appear to be; their guard is up. They say they want intimacy, but if they are never willing to take the extra step and actually care about you as a human being, then your relationship isn’t real.

My last relationship wasn’t real. They were never able to care about me as a human being while we were together. It was only after that they finally woke up.

I deserve better than that.
