I agreed to care for Linda’s son while her and her husband were deployed, they were my best friends. Daniel was 13 at the time, I was 26, worked as an RN.
I’m going to cut to the chase and leave out details. I got pregnant by Daniel, I really didn’t think a 13 year old could get a woman pregnant. He doesnt know David is his and neither do his parents. We’ve stayed close over the years and Daniel is a grown man who treats David like his little brother, takes him fishing, they go camping and Daniel is a gear head as he calls himself because he loves rebuilding cars. David loves doing the same. I want to tell Daniel that David is his son but i don’t want to lose my very good friends. David is very close to Daniel, I don’t want to ruin that relationship as well. Should I wait until David is grown up or risk everything and tell the truth. David is 15 now. I feel like I really screwed up the longer I let this go on. After all, Beth and Daniel senior are being robbed of being grandparents as it is.
I did tell my mother when David was 5. She slapped me across my face and really read me the riot act and although that day is behind me, my mother tells me it’s my cross to bear. She has never told my father who David’s father is and told me to never tell dad anythjng, it would crush him because he has always been so proud of me for getting my nursing degree.
