Because people want their own prejudices to be the truth, no matter if they are or not.
Some people are hardwired with their bigoted point of views.
Misinformation is also hard to avoid.
People make up excuses and are afraid to do research.
do movies further religion peoples beliefs through obscure scenes etc on purpose
