try putting a small piece of paper towel in front of your cigarette filter. It might not stop your damage but it could prevent you from dying and still be a bit healthier. I smoke black and milds but also have a tough time quitting. They don’t have a filter though so I had to invent my own. Even if your cigarettes have a filter if you add another one it may prevent you from getting a fatal disease. My grandpa also lived past 90 and he smoked cigars his whole life. You may not die from cancer depending on your genetics. I wish I could suggest more than that.
I feel like there has to be a “great change” in the world for people to be able to feel comfortable not smoking. It’s very sad. I’m not sure what to do either to completely rid myself of the habit.
Change over to vaping. It worked for me after 26 years of smoking. After changing, gradually go down to zero nicotine, then you won’t be addicted anymore.
If someone followed you around for three days with a loaded shotgun pointed at your head and said “The next time you light a cigarette I’m going to blow your head off,” you’d bring a whole new tone to the statement “I can’t stop smoking cigarettes.” You can stop any time you want to. You just have to go through the withdrawal and learn to do everything you associate with cigarettes again, like eating, drinking a cup of coffee, after sex, all of it. It’s really difficult but not impossible.
Try a GOOD electronic cigarette, with a good NON-TOBACCO flavor. That’s what I did, and I finally broke away from the real cigarettes. I was a 20+ year smoker. A friend of mine managed to quit this way, too.
