I’ve been feeling horribly depressed. Tired, worthless, hopeless, the usual. Problem is, I can’t tell anyone. I’m a woman in my thirties. I’m unable to drive so I can’t take myself to see a therapist, which I can’t afford anyway. If I tell my husband I’m sure he’ll blame himself and feel guilty (he hasn’t done anything to make me depressed at all). I don’t want to bring it up because we’re dealing with a load of financial and other problems right now. I don’t want to add something else for him to worry about.
My mother is the only other person I could talk to but she’s been the same since I was a teenager struggling with depression. Tell her the first time? She denies it and tells me I’m just down and it’s normal and it’ll pass, I’ve just got to buck up. Tell her again and she gets offended and acts like I’m trying to blame her, gets emotional and upset and instead of saying anything to try and reassure me, makes accusations.
So… I don’t know what to do. I’m really struggling. I’m able to just claim being tired around my husband but when he’s at work it’s all I can do to get up and take care of the most minimal of chores. Everything looks so bleak. I just want to go to sleep so I can forget about everything, but I know it’ll all be there when I wake up again. I just feel like giving up. But I can’t.
