My husband doesn’t understand why I want him to call me when he arrives at his hotel when he leaves for frequent business trips. I don’t think it’s asking so much for him to say he’s safe. I also don’t think it’s too much to ask for him to call me at some point during the evening to say goodnight to me and our sons. The boys ask “Why won’t Daddy call,” and when I tell him this he says I am trying to make him feel guilty.
When he told me that travel was going to be a part of his job, I knew it would be difficult, but just touching base would make it so much easier for me. I have had to travel on business, too – so I know there are times when a phone call isn’t possible until after a meeting or business function. But when you’re back at the hotel or you’ve just arrived at an airport?
