I work in a hospital as a diet tech where I help patients order their meals and snacks. Sometimes patients request to have their food cut up, prepared a certain way, or whatever that accommodates to their diet or state of being. I asked if the employee in the kitchen could cut up a pizza for a patient because she has a hard time doing it herself. The employee replies saying, “You sure ask for a lot. Every time I answer the phone, it’s always you asking for something.” I said, “Well, patients are asking for help so I’m trying to help them.” He then says, “Well, you should learn to say no to them” and hangs up. Seriously? You work in a hospital, learn to be respectful. If you’re going to be an a******, don’t work in a hospital. We don’t need uncaring, rude, and lazy people like you working here. My job is to provide good customer service and make patients feel comfortable during their stay, and this man is hindering me from doing so by complaining about patients’ requests. I’m sure he just hates his job because all he can do is work the tray line in a mass quantity food environment, but if he would just stop complaining and do his job, patients would be a lot happier. Every time I am at work, patients call saying they got the wrong food tray, something is missing off their tray, or simply the food is prepared badly, and it is because of the people who work in the kitchen. They need to be more respectful and thankful that they even have a job. Next time this employee gives me attitude when trying to help a patient, I am reporting him to his supervisor because we don’t need employees that create a hostile work environment.
