My mother has a mental illness of which she is in denial.
The worst part about this, is that she will not obtain proper help.
She has threatened suicide, and went up to my father with a loaded gun held up to her head.
My mom wants to leave my dad, since she does not have romantic feelings towards him anymore… perhaps want to be the free young s** pot every girl wants to be, but some never get to be.
My dad is in denial, thinking she needs to snap out of it. You cannot snap out of a mental illness, much like you cant snap out of diabetes or cancer.
I am so scared my mom will kill herself.
I am so scared of telling my dad to let her leave, because despite the way she is, he loves her with all his being.
I am sad for him. I am sad that after all of his hard work, love, and dedication to give her the american dream, this is how those actions are repayed.
She is unpredictable, and he is depressed.
She won’t stop smoking cigs, she’s addicted to barbituates, and she only weighs 96 pounds. She will not be healthy for long.
My father is overweight, with diabetes running in his family.
I cannot handle it, it is heartbreaking. Having parents so depressed, so unhealthy, making all of the wrong choices for themselves.
I want them to be happy, and in my life. Whether they’re together or not is up to them…. I want them with me, to see my have children, to have great family vacations… I cannot be their counselor anymore. I don’t know what else to say or do to make them see. And they refuse to seek help, she refuses to seek help.
I hope that this doesn’t get worse. I am not ready, as I am in my 20’s, to go on bearing the weight of a parent’s suicide the rest of my life. And my poor dad. I couldnt ask for better parents, they helped me become successful, taught me to be the person I am, and they are so much fun. I love and respect them both, and I wish I had a magic wand to eliminate her mental illness. Having a parent with mental illness wears on a person…
