I think my apartment building might be abandoned

This probably sounds really weird but for some reason its really freaking me out.

I’ll start by saying that I don’t know any of my neighbours and I never really talk to them but I always used to hear them moving around or talking but I haven’t seen or heard any of them in weeks.

Every night all of the lights are off, except for a television in the apartment above me which never gets turned off.

I never hear anyone enter or leave the building even though I live right next to the front door. The one time that did I hear someone I ran do the door to look through the peephole only to see one of my neighbours friends knocking on his door and leaving after there was no response.

Even the bins are empty and the hallways don’t seem to get cleaned anymore. Theres also plastic bags over some of the windows and paper over some others.

Apparently I’m not allowed to ask if anyone else is living here due to privacy reasons and my neighbours would probably think I’m insane if I started knocking on their doors to see if they’re still alive.

I used to hate listening to things like my neighbours arguing or the noise that the cleaners used to make but now I feel like I’m going to have some sort of mental breakdown due to the silence and I don’t know why.
