When I was thirteen, my mom left me and my siblings with my mentally unstable father after he admitted that he cheated on her before I was born. We had pretty much no food.
My mom was only gone for a week, but the only reason she came back was because I told her that my dad was in the basement with my cousin’s r***** ex-boyfriend and the ex’s new girlfriend. They turned out to be doing drugs down there. My mom and my cousin came back, pissed. My dad was also pissed, I can’t remember why.
My dad locked my cousin out on the front porch, then started arguing with my mum. My dad was so angry that he hit himself with the b*** side of a hatchet. He then pinned my mum down on the mattress we had in the dining room (we had just moved to a new house and they still had to move their stuff upstairs) and started shouting at her to tell me and my little sisters what she had just said. My mum said that she had to get rid of me, my two little sisters, and my baby brother to get rid of my dad.
Some time later, my mum went upstairs to try and jump out of my sister’s window, but my dad pinned her down again. She was yelling for me to call 911. I obviously didn’t want to put my dad in jail, so I screamed at him to let her go.
He let her go and started walking downstairs to leave, but before he did, he looked at me and said that I’d be the reason he goes to jail.

Ten minutes later, he was laying in the street and banging on our backyard window.

My parents are still together to this day.
