Original poster that just inherited just under a million on Friday. Once you pay out all the fees and taxes, it is just like the lottery – not as much as you originally thought. So after all is said and done, my husband and I said, well – we can afford a nice gift to ourselves. What would we like? We are at that point in our lives at age 45 – “stuff” isn’t as meaningful as it used to be. So we agreed to re-tile the shower, yay! It’s been so icky looking for so long! And instead of me running around to 3 plus grocery store for the best deals on healthy organics, I will now doing most of my shopping at whole Foods! And Trader Joes…I will move up from the 3 buck chuck to the, say, $7-$10 wines. We drink one bottle of week, it’s a nice indulgence.
Husband says, we cannot view it as money to blow, it is for saving. I agree. If we had gotten more money, then I might have splurged on nicer sheets. But whatever!
What would you do with the money?
