I have been too hard on a man who wishes to serve as a minister in my church. He lacks credentials, and I have been suspicious of him ever since he arrived wearing a clerical collar. I judged him and asked him to produce authentic verification that he is who he says he is and have offended him in the process. I don’t think I was wrong to insist on his being credible, but I was overly judgmental in the process causing him to leave the church. So I confess being suspicious, judgmental, and insensitive when I could have been more open and welcoming.
