I am a socialist. Americans say it’s bad, but I can’t help how I feel. I believe in high taxes for the rich and lower + social programs for the poor and lower middle class. I wish the USA had a free healthcare system, like in Canada. I wish gerrymandering was outlawed and congressional districts were based on city/county lines + population. I wish no one was allowed to make more than 500,000 dollars of yearly income. How much more could one person really need. People in America spend their whole lives getting as much money as they possibly can, that they seem to be blind to the fact that when they gain it’s at the expense of others. What’s even the point of it all. I still believe in the constitution, democracy, and checks and balances, but I just wish my beloved America would change to a more left leaning based belief system. I think because communist nations from the past and present have dictatorships that oppress people, that people in America have become afraid of any form of government. It hurts my heart because I know how much good government can do if they devote all energy into improving the lives of its poverty stricken citizens. I find myself voting democrat because the socialists don’t run a viable candidate. But the democrats are still too centrist for me. I never talk about politics to anyone because I am afraid of being shunned for my beliefs. Thank you for letting me vent. I know this dream will never become reality.
