A catfish is a person who is so unappealing in personality and looks but also desperate for online social interaction they can’t be themselves and expect to attract some attention or contact, they know it, so they take on the personality of someone else who is more attractiv to get to another person.

It could be to get to a known target they are obsessing over who is interested in the personality they are disguised as or it could be done just to attract anyone in general. I suppose it could be done in an attempt to sabotage or maybe get info too.

I don’t get it. It’s pointless. It’s a no win situation for the catfish. It’s not like the catfish could ever get anything in person, where it counts. If it’s sabotage and you succeed, just because you ruin/break up a relationship of kill an attraction, it still doesn’t mean the person will be interested in the person catfishing, but whatever.
