I’m 17, and I don’t like my mom.

I have disliked my mom for a very long time. Everything about her, her voice, her horrible attitude towards everyone, her homophobia, her wanton disregard for other’s emotions, her hate of children, the was she speaks way too loud on the phone (no matter where. Elevator with people, quiet house, library. She doesn’t care), her inappropriate behavior (talking about s** and s***** organs at dinner with the in-laws, for instance). The way she belittles me constantly. How she thinks that it’s ok to let other people raise me, and then just step in suddenly like nothing happened when I turned 15. Her immaturity. Her constant, obnoxious, public displays of affection with my stepfather. How she constantly antagonizes me when she’s bored, and gets my step dad to join her. I want to move out. I can’t drive, I don’t have a job, and I won’t burden my boyfriend like that.

When I was very young, 5 or maybe 4, she severely beat me for having a cough. I remember it. I was terrified, I had to press my face into a chair to cough, but she would come in the room and beat me for any sound. When I confronted her about it years later, she told me that I was “looking for attention”. She used to force pills up my nose and made me eat the snot with the pill. She’s neglected to feed me. She’s refused to talk to me. She’s beaten me on the way home from daycare because of “bad day[s] at work”. Her ultimate excuse for all of this, and other things I don’t have time to mention, is that she hates kids. It’s supposed to be ok now, because “[I’m] not a kid anymore”.

Short form,
She is 41, but somehow never stopped acting like a ill-mannered bully.
