Schools Should Really Rethink Homework. Sometime’s it’s good, but most of the time it’s just 100’s or 0’s in the gradebook that determine your grades. I failed almost every math test, midterm amd final included, in Algebra last year, and passed because I did my homework. And they don’t check for accuracy either, I wrote down random crap or copied that homework. I’m not saying that I wanted to fail that class, but it means I didn’t learn anything, and the class was a waste of time. This year in math, the teacher won’t check homework at all unless you have a low grade, and has a mini quiz everyday, and I haven’t dropped lower then a A- at all. And I actually understand what we are doing.
There is this one guy in a few of my classes that has pretty low grades because he doesn’t do homework, but he gets 90+ on all tests and quizzes. The kid’s actually pretty smart, and I know it’s his own fault for not doing the homework, but still. I don’t like it the other way around. When kids don’t understand something, like me in math last year, or just really don’t care, can pass a class because they complete a worksheet that they could write anything on.
