my dad has a hording disorder … he is very protective of his garbage and rubble. he has piles of old newspapers, old empty cleaning bottles and used incontinence pads, junk that he is obbessed with keeping. he hates you touching his rubbish and leaves clean or to be laundered towel, clothing around the rubbish pile. he does not like me or my mum trying to clean it up and he keeps saying that he is almost completed his cleaning but it is getting worse each time the rubbish is bigger. he has a mental problem since he had cancer taken out of his head he has been extremely slow and mentally dull and like having a disabled autistic difficult child… he is declining in mental capacities and over all health. it is as if the rubbish around him, protects him… and an empty ice-cream container seems to be more important to him then say, a clean house or gold… he can not see he has a disorder.
he is generally an unclean old man who drinks and is often argumentative, choking on food and disruptive, noisy and yelling, deaf, farts everywhere in front of people and makes a mess with food everywhere… unclean wiping his b*** after toileting, just a heap of things…
he has a man cave pig stye!
MY GRANDFATHER USED TO FIND CLOTHING AT THE DUMP AND BRING THEM HOME FOR MY GRANDMOTHER TO WASH TO GIVE TO CHARITY OR THEY WOULD KEEP IT OR GIVE IT AWAY… THAT IS A SIGN OF A DISORDER!
I KNEW OF ANOTHER MAN WHO WAS LIKE THIS … OVER A MILLION AUSTRALIANS HAVE HORDING ADDICTIONS. MY GRANDPARENTS WERE THE SAME AS WELL.
