My parents aren’t supportive of me at all.
I have trichotillomania, the compulsive urge to pull out my hair. I now have 3 large bald spots on my head, two of them extremely noticeable.
I finally asked my parents for help, but my dad just said “You’re doing this to yourself. You need to stop it right now. Just knock it off. It’s nobody’s fault but your own.”
My mom said “If it was that bad then you’d be completely bald”
Needless to say, I have trust issues with them now. But this isn’t the beginning.
Back in 7th grade, I was bullied to the point where I actually wanted to die. I still do, but I’m too much of a coward to go through with it.
But when I told my parents about what those girls were doing and saying to me, they brushed me off and said “you’re being too sensitive.”
I feel like I can’t tell them anything anymore. Whenever I try to express my feelings, they turn the other way and act like nothings going on, or say that I did something to bring it upon myself.
I want to tell them that the bandaids I put on my left arm aren’t because I’m “covering a rash” or “the cat scratched me”, I’m cutting myself and I can’t stop.
I want to be able to ask them for help.
