My family is from so many countries that I don’t know what to identify as. I identify usually as French because I speak French and I look French, but I’m more Filipino than I am French. On my father’s side, my grandmother is full Filipino and my grandfather is just American, but on my mother’s side my grandmother is half Swedish half Czech and my grandfather is from Britain. My great grandmother was French on my father’s side. My mother is white and my father identifies as white because he took on the white features of his father. I identify as white because I am, but I don’t have an ethnicity because there’s too many to choose from. I have been influenced by so many cultures that I haven’t embraced one of my own, and It makes me feel like I’m not doing my ancestry justice. This isn’t a sin confession or whatever, it’s just been frustrating me.
