when I was in my teens I used to dream of being a model but I didn’t think I was pretty enough. young men ignored me so much and the only men who paid me attention were old men, sleazy weird men, married men in their 40s-50s which is not a compliment to a teenage girl. sometimes I used to cry and felt sorry for myself. I wore make up sometimes. we were not rich and I didn’t have a lot of pretty clothes. I made some of my own clothes and I had one or two outfits my mother bought me but that was it.

my holly communion my mum bought me a dress and for my confirmation she made a skirt and top outfit that I chose the material.

I admit I love clothes. I can used to spend time in shops over clothes looking choosing carefully with not a lot of money.

as a student I was never really a fashion conscious person. I was chubby and red hair and classes like drama I had to wear baggy clothes and mostly pants or shorts because we did a lot of floor exercises and you could not wear pretty dresses or short skirts to class. I wore mostly jeans and t-shirt or shorts. when I had my history or legal classes I would dress up a little more and wear high heels and a short business skirt.

when I was at the private college doing business/legal I did buy two business suits at Cue Fashion (the jacket was expensive for me at the time on students drizzling income so I bought it on layby) but I wanted to have a nice one fit for interviews and work. I would do my hair more and tried to look the part of the paralegal. I walked around at lunch time in heaps of shops in shopping malls like a freak.

when I was at the catholic girls schools we could not wear nail polish or jewelry, or make up. we had to have our hair back modestly and uniform was strict. so I could only wear make up at home.

now I don’t wear make up and I don’t bother to do much fashion wise.
