Ok so, in the grand scheme of things, staying 30 minutes extra at work is not really an issue for the most part. In fact, I usually step up to the plate when I need to. But today was not that day. I had already switched shifts with a coworker so he could help his mom. So that meant I was staying later than normal. Same amount of hours worked, but I usually leave earlier in the day. No biggie. So I work this shift with the idea that I’m getting off when they would normally get off. I started a work call briefly before I was slated to go home. I figured I’d get it done clock out and be on my merry way. Wrong. My coworker who was SUPPOSED TO CLOSE up and clocks out while I’m on this call. In the middle of the call I exclaimed what are you doing. And all he did was smile and laughed as he walked out. I was furious. I had already delayed my own plans by helping another coworker out, because family is important and I feel for people. But I was going to be damned if I was forced to work another persons shift. Especially since they came in after me. I caused a slight scene. And I feel bad about it, because I love my boss. But how in the world is that fair? I’ve already taken one for the team, why should sir go fucks himself get to leave before me? Especially since he was scheduled to close and came in after me. I was able to mostly keep it cool, but on the inside I was burning with rage. Now if I had been told/asked beforehand this wouldn’t be an issue. But when it comes time for me to leave and someone else just ups and leaves me to take over their shift last minute, I’m not going to be happy about it and my anger is one million percent justified. Oh well I’ve got one week till vacation. But still f*** that asshat. We’re gonna have words on Monday about this and I’ll be lucky if I’m not fired for giving him a black eye.
