I’m sitting here with thoughts of disappointment with my government, Malaysia. A new government with the burning need to show results, every step they take is to cement the power of the majority in fear of retaliation from their own decisions. All we ask as youth of Malaysia, is fairness and leaving opportunity for the future. What is use of ability and hard work when the government discriminates and uses what you are born as for benefits and rewards…

Being a Malay automatically signs one up to a life of comfort without working at all.
Being an Indian or Chinese, we see how our parents are made into villains for being “rich”. I know and I hear, “Go back to your country!” “You don’t belong here!” when i’m born here in Malaysia.

Everyone started out with nothing, and what you do would change everything. My great-grand and grandparents scrimped and saved for years before being able to afford to send my parents to primary school, their siblings gave up their education to let them study and worked together to ensure my parents could finish primary school. My parents did it too to send me and my siblings to university. I stand here with a degree with the hard work and sacrifices of generations before me. and I believe that all the wealth that they came to have is from blood and sweat and they deserve every penny of it.

Then why Malaysia are you penalizing and punishing these people who work hard? The lazy gets benefits, BRIM, scholarships, allowances, free tuition, free books, free food. Whereas the hard workers find themselves being squeezed and squashed for working. This is what our generation is going through now, look out and experience it yourself, everyone is now thinking that the minimum is enough, people work less just cause they don’t want to accidentally go over the benefits lines, this is the time when its preferable to continue to be poor and s*** the life out of Malaysia instead of working hard to contribute.

I don’t know, maybe I’m still young, but I now sit here watching Malaysia burning and no one is stepping up to put out the fire. “Then why don’t you!” I can imagine you thinking, I can’t, cause I’m not from the majority and everything I do will be criticized and I probably will be killed for what I have in mind, cause what I want is not a Malaysia that would treat the minority specially, I want a Malaysia that is fair. For a fair Malaysia, you can’t pick and choose who gets the push up, you can’t pick and choose who to control. I want a Malaysia that no one would even care what skin color or religion you are. All they could see is the ability that you have and the amount of work you can do. A country that everyone could reach what others have.

It might not be at the first generation, not be at the second, but if one works hard and generations after does too, then they could reach what I reached. I climbed to shore easily cause I swam up in the blood and sweat that generation left behind for me. I aim to do it for my next generation too.
