I’ve never had one identity. My whole life I’ve been in a cultural limbo. My parents are from two different cultures with two different cultures, food, religion, mannerisms, languages. I’ve practiced both cultures and languages simultaneously. I have dial citizenship. I have two names, two passports. But I haven’t set foot on my mom’s homeland in 10 years. This has lead to a lot of mental disorders. I’ve yet to find someone like me. I wish I could meet someone like me, another Japanese-American, and I would love to know their struggles and experiences. Even if you’re someone who’s not Japanese-American, just someone that struggles in a cultural/ethnic limbo I’d be so happy to know about your experiences.
