I work in an office full of people who make an okay living. 5 years ago, my wife was promoted to CFO of her employer. The company went public and she was given stock options worth five million dollars. She’s been given additional options and the company’s stock has skyrocketed during the current bull market. My wife and I are now worth forty million dollars. My wife doesn’t want to exercise or sell any of her options. We live pretty much the way we always have. I drive an 8 year old car that I bought used. I’m pretty contemptuous of people that live flashy lives. And I’m also contemptuous of people who brag. No one has any idea how rich we are. But sometimes I feel an almost overwhelming urge to tell someone.
