I miss my husband so much.

Last year he was fired after getting hurt at work, so he went to Wyoming for better job opportunities; he also has family there. He left on December 8th, 2013. His birthday is on the 16th, so I didn’t get to celebrate that, Christmas or New Year’s with him, but we didn’t turn into emotional wrecks. I visited him for a couple weeks in February, over Valentine’s Day, and then again from mid-August to September 20th. During our five-month separation he enlisted in the Army and went to basic training on September 22nd, which happens to be our anniversary. Tomorrow, on December 8th, will mark one year that we’ve been separated.

It just hit me all of a sudden. The fact is I have spent maybe 55 days or so out of 365 with the person I vowed to spend the rest of my life with. I have physically seen my husband for less than a quarter of an entire year. It just dawned on me last night that he hasn’t lain in our bed in a year. His pillow doesn’t have his scent (probably my fault for washing it). The side I now sleep on is indented from him. I realized how much I miss him and I cried about it for the first time last night. I tried to be strong while we were separated, and I’m not disappointed in myself for crying. I get to see him for two weeks because he has holiday block leave, and then he’ll return to training until he graduates in February. It’s just going to be difficult to wake up alone for yet another month. I want him back.
